NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Apple (Stock Quote: AAPL) on Thursday selected photo sharing app Instagram as its iPhone app of the year.
Instagram, which lets people transform their mobile photos with over
15 retro-looking filters and then share them with other users, boasts 1
million photo uploads a day. People can also post their photos to
multiple social networks including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare at once with the click of a button.
While the app is exclusively for the iOS platform, Instagram is eyeing Android as well, co-founder Kevin Systrom said in October.
Apple also named Tiny Tower, which lets users build small towers and manage businesses within it, as the iPhone game of the year.
Photo editing software app Snapseed won the title of iPad app of the year.
